Career

A strategist by nature and a natural leader, Yurosky is the mind behind the vision that has shaped Mazara Abogados. Recognized for his intelligence, pragmatism and skill as a litigator, he has developed a firm model that combines a boutique's close relationships and direct attention with the capacity to handle highly complex, large-scale matters.

As founder and Managing Partner, he has defined a practice based on responsiveness, direct partner involvement, a deep understanding of the client's business and precise legal strategy. His approach is especially valuable where legal risk, reputation, assets and high-impact business decisions converge.

With more than two decades of experience, he has built a practice focused on complex dispute resolution, strategic conflict management and risk prevention, particularly in economic crime, civil, commercial, real estate and regulatory matters.

His practice extends beyond litigation. He leads multidisciplinary teams in high-exposure disputes and participates in due diligence, assessment of contingent liabilities and complex structuring, integrating the legal perspective with the business and reputational implications of each decision.

Before founding Mazara Abogados, he worked in private firms and held administrative and judicial positions within the Dominican Republic's judiciary. This experience gave him insight into the justice system from different perspectives and now informs how he anticipates scenarios and develops strategies.

Representative experience

Multijurisdictional corporate and tourism litigation. He has led criminal, civil, commercial and arbitration strategies involving business groups and large-scale assets, including disputes involving more than USD 286 million.

Recovery and protection of real estate assets. He has handled asset protection, restitution and enforcement proceedings for financial institutions, including disputes involving properties valued at over USD 300 million.

Economic and tax crime. He has led defenses in investigations and litigation concerning tax and banking fraud, money laundering, corporate offenses, organized crime and other forms of economic crime, including a strategy that reduced tax exposure from approximately DOP 1,200 million to DOP 350 million.

Regulation and highly regulated markets. He has led administrative and regulatory disputes in sectors such as hydrocarbons, financial services, insurance and healthcare, combining litigation, risk analysis and institutional strategy.

Complex enforcement and collateral recovery. He has led proceedings involving assets linked to money laundering investigations and complex asset structures, including recoveries exceeding USD 35 million for a domestic bank.

He has supported more than ten UNIBE teams in national and international competitions involving human rights, criminal litigation and constitutional law.

He has also served as a guest judge in international competitions, including the Human Rights Moot Court Competition at American University, Washington College of Law, and is an Honorary Lifetime Member of UNIBE's Law Students' Group.

He is particularly committed to educating new generations of lawyers and students. Through Mazara Abogados, he also supports institutional initiatives involving access to justice, education, community development and environmental sustainability.

Teaching, speaking & publications

He has served as a university and guest lecturer in General Criminal Law and Special Criminal Law at UNIBE, and as a speaker at national and international academic and professional forums.

He has authored essays and specialized articles on criminal law, criminal procedure, administrative law and human rights, and contributed to volumes I and II of Código Procesal Penal por un Juez en Ejercicio by Judge Francisco Ortega Polanco.

He won the Fifth National Competition for Academic Papers on Human Rights and was a member of the UNIBE team that won the First Interuniversity Criminal Trial Advocacy Competition, where he also received individual distinctions for his performance.

He enjoys good coffee, wine culture and conversations that challenge ideas. Outside legal practice, he finds balance in strength training, nature and outdoor activities, and maintains a particular interest in educating new generations of professionals.
